Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone-based drug that works on a wide range of bacteria. Usually, ciprofloxacin is used to treat traveler's diarrhea caused by bacteria. But, it can also be used to treat other bacterial illnesses in the nose, ears, sinuses, urinary tract, genital tract, gastrointestinal tract, skin and soft tissue, bones and joints, and the lungs.
